How does Pam work?

Pam is worn on the hip and measures all your daily activities, whether that is walking, sports or daily activities like climbing stairs or gardening. Pam measures the acceleration of your body with an accelerometer and expresses the measured movements in the Pam Score. In fact, the accelerometer measures the force on your body. That's why the Pam can see the difference between an intensive movement, such as a step during running, and a less intensitve movement, such as a step during walking.

Uitleg van de nauwkeurigheid van de Pam

The graph shows the difference between an ordinary step counter (pedometer) and the Pam during a test with 20 subjects. The blue line is the graph as measures by scientists of the American College of Sports and Medicine (ACSM). The blue diamonds represent the measurement of the Pam, that follow the theoretical line beautifully. The pedometer is kind of lost when subjects start to run.
